Northwestel Adds Free Video on Demand Selections to Whitehorse Digital TV Packages
Northwestel is adding value to its digital TV offering in Whitehorse by giving customers access to additional Video on Demand (VOD) content, at no extra charge. The new VOD content will be available to customers for free, along with their subscription to selected digital TV programming.
A number of digital TV theme packs have been enhanced with hundreds of additional hours of VOD movies, TV series, documentaries, sports events and children’s shows. The content will refresh each month, providing a wide variety of programming for customers to choose from.
“We are confident that these Whitehorse customers will enjoy this added entertainment value,” said Curtis Shaw, Northwestel Vice President, Consumer and Small Business. “They’re now receiving unlimited Video on Demand access to some very popular channels and programming. The content is easy to access and is available at any time, whenever the customer is ready to view it.”
Customers who subscribe to the Movies package will now also receive Movie Central on Demand and HBO on Demand. Those who subscribe to the Family and Education package will now receive YTV on Demand, Treehouse on Demand and Bionix on Demand. Customers with the Super Movies package will receive Super Channel on Demand.
Video on Demand (VOD) is an interactive service which allows customers to order from an ever-changing library of movies and other programming using their digital TV remote control. Video on Demand programming can be watched at the customer’s convenience at any time during the 24 hours following the placement of the order. Customers are able to pause, play, fast-forward, rewind, and watch the program as many times as they like. Northwestel is the only cable television provider of its size in Canada to offer this service to its customers.
Northwestel provides complete telecommunications solutions and entertainment services in the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon, northern British Columbia and High Level, Alberta. The company’s operations span nearly 4 million square kilometres of the most remote and rugged areas of Canada.
