Northwestel Launching New Reservationless Conferencing Service

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Businesses and other professionals will soon have a convenient new way to hold virtual conferences and meetings. .Northwestel is introducing an on-demand audio conferencing service that will be available starting September 9th.

“Our new Reservationless Conferencing service is fully-automated, easy-to-use and cost-effective,” said Curtis Shaw, Northwestel Vice President, Consumer and Small Business. “The service is available at any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Once a customer has signed up for the service, there is no need to call to make a reservation for a teleconference. That means it will always be ready to go, for regular, frequent or last-minute meetings, whenever our customers need the service.”

The service is secure and easy to manage, with reports provided to customers after each audio conference. The charges for the service are pay-per-use, with no monthly fees.

The new service also includes web conferencing capability, which allows customers to meet over the Internet. The web-based service requires a computer, Internet connection and phone line, and is also available anytime throughout the day, seven days a week. Both voice and data content can be shared, allowing users to collaborate by viewing presentations together, sharing applications and jointly editing documents, all in real time, with no delays.

“Our new conferencing service originates with our parent company, Bell Canada, the number one conferencing provider in Canada,” added Shaw. “That reputation, along with Northwestel’s long history of providing service in the North, gives this product a great track record that customers can rely on. This is an exceptional day-to-day solution for professionals who don’t have time to waste.”

Audio conferencing is an advantage for businesses and other organizations because it allows them to save time and reduce travel costs, increase efficiency, productivity and teamwork over long distances, and reduce their carbon footprint.
