Northwestel digital television customers in Yellowknife can now enjoy access to even more High Definition (HD) TV channels. More HD channels have been added to several of Northwestel’s cable TV packages. In addition, a brand new package is now being offered with four new HD channels. This is in addition to improvements that were made last summer.

The sports line-up has been improved with the introduction of two new High Definition Pay Per View hockey channels and the addition of three new HD channels to the Sports package: The Score HD, The Golf Channel HD and Big Ten Networks HD. (The Big Ten Networks channel is also now available in Standard Definition.)

The Digital Essentials package has been expanded to include six new HD channels: including CBC West HD , CTV West HD, Global West HD, Global Toronto HD, City TV HD and APTN HD. As well, TSN, TSN HD, TSN 2 and TSN 2 HD have been moved from the Sports package into Digital Essentials, making them available to all Northwestel’s Digital TV subscribers. Customers are able to enjoy all these improvements at no additional cost.

A new package called HD World has introduced four new channels: Treasure HD, Oasis HD, Rush HD and Equator HD. These channels present non-fiction programming, which focuses on nature, culture and extreme sports.

Our customers are now getting better value for their dollar and have more choices about the kind of programming they can enjoy. With the ever-expanding selection of HD content and affordable HD hardware, there has never been a better time for customers to begin experiencing the unrivaled quality of HD programming.”

The improvements made last summer included the addition of TSN 2, TSN 2 HD, six Super Channel channels (2 HD and 4 Standard Definition), Setanta Sports and Encore Avenue HD.
