Northwestel is once again looking for northern artwork to be featured on its annual telephone directory covers.

 

Each year, Northwestel invites northern artists to submit their work to a competition which selects three pieces of artwork, one from each of three regions in its operating area (Yukon and northern BC; the Northwest Territories; and Nunavut). The three winning pieces of work are then featured on the directory cover distributed in their respective areas of the North for the following year.

 

‘We encourage all northern artists to look through their portfolio and submit one or more pieces of work to our competition,” said Anne Kennedy, Northwestel Director Communications. “We look forward to this competition each year and enjoy selecting the winners from what always proves to be a widely-varied range of excellent work from northern artists. We are privileged to showcase the selected artwork on our directory covers, and we believe that the artists benefit as well through the exposure they receive in their area of the North. In fact, all artists who submit work receive additional exposure in many areas of the world during the period that the entries are posted on our website.”

 

All eligible entries are posted for public viewing on Northwestel’s website at www.nwtel.ca until the winners are chosen by the selection committee.

 

This year, artists have until September 17^th to submit their entries to Northwestel. Each of the three selected entrants will be awarded $2000.00. The winning entries will be added to Northwestel’s corporate art collection.
