Northwestel Offers Improved Internet Packages

Monday, September 20, 2010

Northwestel is making improvements to its Internet offerings for both business and residential customers. Effective immediately, new packages and higher usage limits and speeds on some existing packages will allow customers to do more with their Internet. The changes are in response to feedback from customers.

Two new packages are being introduced for customers who want the best performance possible from their Internet service. The High Speed Extreme and Business Extreme Cable Internet packages will give customers faster download and upload speeds and a higher usage allowance than has been available in the past.

In addition, higher download speeds will be introduced for the Business Performance Cable Internet and the Business Ultra DSL Internet packages.

Improvements are also being made to some existing packages, at no extra charge. Usage allowances were increased for the Classic, Ultra, Business Classic and Business Ultra DSL Internet packages. The increases give customers 50 per cent more usage at no additional cost.

“Northwestel appreciates the loyalty shown by our Internet service subscribers,” said Curtis Shaw, Northwestel Vice President of Consumer Markets. “We value our customers’ feedback and are responding to their requests for higher usage allowances with these changes. We are confident that the new allowances and packages will go a long way to meeting the Internet service needs of both our business and residential customers.”

Detailed information about the new packages is available on Northwestel’s website at www.nwtel.ca/internet/. Availability varies by region and community.

Northwestel has also recently introduced a free service that allows Internet customers to keep better track of their Internet usage. Customers can register online for Northwestel’s new Usage Notification Service. It will send them an email when they have reached 80 per cent of their usage allowance and again when they have reached 100 per cent. To register, go to www.nwtel.ca/online-services and click on Check Your Internet Usage. You will need your Personal Identification Number (PIN) to register. If you do not know your PIN, you can call Northwestel’s Customer Care Centre at 1-888-423-2333 to obtain one.

Northwestel provides complete telecommunications solutions and entertainment services in the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon, northern British Columbia and High Level, Alberta. The company’s operations span nearly 4 million square kilometres of the most remote and rugged areas of Canada.
