On Demand Television Now Available

Monday, February 21, 2011

Northwestel is now offering digital cable TV customers in Fort Nelson a great new way to enjoy television. Customers can now watch movies, TV shows, documentaries and more when they want, and all just with the click of a button.
"On Demand TV is incredibly convenient," said Curtis Shaw, Northwestel Vice President Consumer Markets. "Northwestel is always looking for innovative ways to enhance the value of our communications and entertainment services. This On Demand service is a great example of how Northwestel continues to upgrade its available services in Fort Nelson.”
On Demand is an interactive service which allows digital TV customers to order movies and other programming using their digital TV remote control.  On Demand is different from Pay Per View programming because the content is available at any time.
Customers can select from a menu of free content, or purchase movies and other content with the option to view it at any time during the 24 hours following the placement of the order. Once an On Demand program is selected, customers can pause, play, fast-forward, rewind, and watch the program as many times as they like.
Movies On Demand works just like DVD movies from a rental store, except movies are available 24/7, there’s no need to leave the comfort of home, and there are no late fees. Movies On Demand start at $3.99, with new releases at $5.99 and High Definition titles at $6.99. Charges for On Demand orders will appear on a customer’s next bill.
In addition to Movies On Demand, Northwestel's On Demand service also offers free content, including free kids' programming, Karaoke On Demand, NFL Network and Speed On Demand. Plus, customers who subscribe to Movies and Family & Education theme packages can access free On Demand hit movies, HBO series and kids' programming from Treehouse On Demand and YTV On Demand.
Northwestel will also be conducting additional work later in 2011 to bring On Demand service to 200 more homes in Fort Nelson along the north Alaska Highway.
Northwestel On Demand provides parental controls and PIN (Personal Identification Number) locks which can prevent shows with certain types of content from being ordered or from being visible on the menu. Customers can also set up their service so that a PIN must be entered any time On Demand programming is selected.
For more information on how to use On Demand, including information about using parental controls, visit www.nwtelondemand.com, call Northwestel's Cable Care Centre at 1-888-423-2333, or visit the Northwestel Retail Store.
Northwestel provides complete telecommunications solutions in the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon, northern British Columbia and High Level, Alberta. The company's operations span nearly 4 million square kilometres of the most remote and rugged areas of Canada.
