Thursday, January 20, 2011
Northwestel digital TV customers in Fort Nelson are now getting more bang for their buck. Northwestel has launched a number of new television channels, which are available at no extra charge as part of two existing packages. The company has also introduced new programming, which is now available by subscription.
“We are excited to be offering even better Digital TV in Fort Nelson,” said Curtis Shaw, Northwestel Vice President Consumer Markets. “In order to upgrade our TV programming, we upgraded equipment in Fort Nelson. These upgrades caused some services outages and we appreciate how patient our customers were during this time.”
Six new High Definition (HD) channels have been added, for free, to the HD Essentials package. They are APTN HD, City TV HD, CBC HD 2, two new Global HD feeds, and a CTV HD West. Sports package subscribers also have two new HD channels – TheScore HD and Sportsnet One HD – at no extra charge.
HD World is a brand new theme package for Fort Nelson customers. HD World is available for $5.95 a month and includes Rad, Treasure HD, Oasis HD and EQ HD. In addition, Northwestel has introduced the NHL Centre Ice package to Fort Nelson, with half-season pricing available. To order HD World or NHL Centre Ice, customers may call 1-888-423-2333.
The equipment upgrade in Fort Nelson will also improve the Pay-Per-View (PPV) ordering process, allowing customers to order PPV directly using their remote and the Interactive Program Guide. If customers need assistance ordering PPV, they may call 1-888-423-2333.
To thank customers for their continued loyalty to Northwestel, all Digital TV customers will receive a free PPV rental ($5.99 value) to be used in the month of February, 2011.
Northwestel provides complete telecommunications solutions and entertainment services in the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon, northern British Columbia and High Level, Alberta. The company’s operations span nearly 4 million square kilometres of the most remote and rugged areas of Canada.
