Call Screen FAQ
How many numbers can I add to my "screened callers" list?
- In Whitehorse - up to 12 numbers may be added to the list
- In Yellowknife, Fort Nelson and Inuvik - up to 21 numbers may be added to the list
Will I know if I receive a call from a number on my "screened callers" list?
The phone does not ring and the number does not appear on a Call Display set.
What does the calling party hear when they are screened?
The screened caller hears the following pre-recorded announcement: "We're sorry, the number you have reached is not accepting calls at this time. Thank you and goodbye."
Can I screen/block any phone number?
Cellular numbers, unknown name/numbers, and some long distance numbers cannot be screened. Call Screen will validate whether a number can be screened. If a number cannot be added to your "screened callers" list, a voice prompt will notify you when you are programming the feature.
If a caller from my "screened callers" list uses Call Display Block, will they still be screened?
Call screen can prevent callers using Call Display Block from reaching you. When you receive an unwanted call from someone using Call Display Block (will appear as "Private Number"), follow the add entry instructions for adding the last caller. The person's phone number will not be revealed to you, but a spot on the "screened callers" list will be reserved for them. They will subsequently receive the screening message when they attempt to call.
What advantages does Call Screen have over Call Trace?
Calls from unwanted sources can be automatically blocked in advance. Subscribers do not receive calls from harassing sources once a number has been added to the "screened callers" list. Also, callers are screened without the need to involve the police.
What happens if someone forwards calls to a Call Screen subscriber using Call Forwarding?
When calls are forwarded to a subscriber with Call Screen, the original calling number, not the Call Forwarding number, is screened.
What happens if I have both Call Screen and Smart Ring?
Callers will continue to be screened, regardless of which of the two phone numbers (main line or smart ring number) a caller may dial.
With Call Waiting, will screened callers reach me when I am on the phone?
When a Call Screen subscriber is already on the phone, and another call comes in as a Call Waiting call, the second call will be screened.
What happens when a "screened caller" tries to reach me using their Call Return automatic call-back feature?
When a caller on your "screened callers" list uses Call Return's automatic call-back feature (*66), the call will still be blocked.
