Call Display FAQ
What options do I have for telephone sets/equipment for Call Display?
Northwestel rents telephone sets equipped for Call Display. Call 1-888-423-2333 for more information.
You may also purchase an appropriately equipped telephone set or a small adjunct display box (which may be added to an existing telephone set) from another retail store or mail order outlet.
Does Call Display record the numbers that called my line?
Call Display alone will not record the numbers that called your line - that is a function of the particular telephone set that you have. Many phone sets have the capability of storing the information regarding the last 20 to 50 incoming calls on your line.
Why don't the names of incoming callers appear on my phone set?
Call Display only displays the number of the incoming caller. Due to technical limitations, Northwestel cannot currently offer Name Display as a feature.
Many phone sets include a directory into which you can program/add your own list of frequently called telephone numbers and associated names. If you have an appropriately equipped phone set, the set will display the name (as well as the number) of any incoming callers you have programmed in the directory. This capability depends on the model of your phone set.
Why do some numbers not show up on my Call Display set?
There are several possible reasons a number may not show up:
- The incoming call may be blocked with the Call Display Block feature
- The number of the incoming caller may be unlisted, in which case it may show up on the display as a "Private Number".
- If the incoming call is from a long distance number, the number may not appear due to limitations with the switching equipment in your community and/or the switching equipment / programming in the community from which the call is made.
