Applications are now being accepted for the full-time permanent role of Manager, Supply Chain Operations located in Whitehorse, YT
 
The Manager Supply Chain Operations, reporting to the Director Corporate Infrastructure and Logistics Solutions, is accountable to oversee all Procurement of goods and services, Warehousing activities and Fleet Management. The Manager Supply Chain Operations is responsible for a department of 15 employees, including the Buyers, administration staff, and the Assistant Manager of Supply Chain Operations who will supervise 11 of the warehousing employees in multiple locations in Yellowknife, Whitehorse, Iqaluit, and Fort Nelson. Focusing on optimizing its internal customer service, the position must function as a change agent, creating and communicating improvements to the current supply chain operations activities and procedures.
 
 
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
Develop and maintain a long-term Supply Chain strategic plan approved by the Director Corporate Infrastructure and Logistics Solutions. Develop and implement an annual business plan in support of Northwestel’s strategic initiatives and overall corporate and business goals.
 
2. Lead, engage and develop a team specializing in providing value added services to an internal client base in the areas of Procurement of goods and services and Warehousing activities.
 
3. Maintain the timely and reliable flow of goods and services to the corporation ensuring financial responsibility, while considering cost/benefit impacts and strategic supply chain initiatives.
 
4. Provide professional logistical support to end-users departments in the demand planning, tendering, sourcing, transportation, vendor evaluation, fleet management and material disposal.
 
5. Oversee the Purchasing and Material management including; Supplier selection., development and performance, material availability, inventory management, leveraging purchasing contracts, maintain and develop synergy discussion with Bell Canada purchasing and supply chain operations groups.
 
6. Ongoing development, maintenance and refinement of reporting and analysis tools to provide measurement, performance indicator and evaluation of supply chain processes and management of Northwestel’s fleet equipment.
 
7. Provide leadership and direction to all direct reports. This includes performance management and development for these positions.
 
8. Represent Northwestel and participate in industry related forums outside of the corporation.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Evolving in an environment of change, creating and communicating improvements to current supply chain operations activities, this position requires the completion of a business diploma/degree (with a specialization in purchasing or logistics) along with completion of PMAC. In addition to the educational credentials the incumbent must possess three to five years’ relevant experience in the purchasing, logistics (including customs), inventory management, contracting, and vendor quality performance evaluation fields. The incumbent must possess strong organizational, communication (oral and written), analytical, leadership/management and interpersonal skills. Also required is a high level of proficiency of the Microsoft Office Suite, more specifically Excel and Word (or similar programs). A good understanding of integrated financial systems and accounting principles are also essential for this position.
 
Salary will commensurate with education and experience.
