Get on the fast-track to a rewarding career in the North and join the Northwestel Futures Program! Whether you want to work with your hands outside -- or use your gift of gab from the comfort of the indoors – we have a place for you here at Northwestel. We're looking to give young adults in-demand skills that get their foot in the door of a growing and expanding field that connects us together in the North.
What you get
- You will receive general training for 6 weeks at Yukon University.
- You will have 2 University credited courses from Yukon University on your transcript.
- Earn $23.48 per hour during training, Monday to Friday 8:30 – 4:30 pm.
- Next, choose which path you want to take. Get further training as a service technician or customer service representative.
- Northwestel will provide trainees from outside communities with temporary accommodation in Whitehorse.

Am I eligible?
To apply you must have the following:
- Strong preference will be given to self-identified Indigenous applicants, although anybody can apply
- High school diploma or equivalent (transcripts or image of diploma)
- 2 References (Can be from manager, teacher, counsellor, volunteer leader, elder, etc.)
- Driver’s license (Only for service technicians)
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Reside in the Canadian territories or Northern British Columbia

2. Be Ready to Start Training June 19th, 2023
3. Complete Training September, 2023
Program length is from June to September with 6-8 weeks of specialized training, depending on which job you wish to pursue at Northwestel. Choose between working with your hands as a service technician or giving quality customer service to our customers.
4. Start Working
Once training is done, you will be ready to be hired on at one of Canada’s top employers for young people – Northwestel! Be ready to work in Whitehorse or an assigned community in the North.
- Customer Service Representatives start at $23.48 per hour.
- Service Technicians start at $28.41 per hour.
