Building up the North

Inuvik Central Office

Inuvik Central Office

Northwestel's new Inuvik Central Office represents a major investment in modern, resilient telecommunications infrastructure for the Western Arctic, requiring extensive planning, engineering, and logistics coordination across permafrost terrain, remote supply chains, and tight construction windows.

Delivered in close collaboration with local partners and the Town of Inuvik, the facility strengthens regional connectivity, enhances network reliability for government and industry, and provides a scalable foundation for future fibre, transport, and satellite integration across the Beaufort Delta.

Yellowknife SNP

Yellowknife Satellite Network Portal

The Yellowknife Satellite Network Portal (SNP) is a first‑of‑its‑kind LEO ground station in the Northwest Territories, built through an international partnership with Eutelsat OneWeb, the Swedish Space Corporation, Nahanni Construction, and key Northern organizations. The project features 24 Space Frame Radomes engineered for extreme Arctic conditions and required significant coordination across engineering, logistics, and remote construction.

Delivered in close collaboration with the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, Det'on Cho Corporation, the Government of the Northwest Territories, and the City of Yellowknife, the facility links LEO satellites directly to Northwestel's fibre backbone, strengthening digital infrastructure across the North and supporting sectors such as mining, utilities, healthcare, education, and emergency response.
