NWT now most connected territory as Fort Resolution, Kakisa and Enterprise get unlimited Fibre Internet.

July 12th, 2023, Yellowknife, NWT - Today, Northwestel launched fibre Internet to three more Northwest Territories communities – Fort Resolution, Kakisa and Enterprise. Now twenty-one NWT communities have access to fast, unlimited fibre-powered connections, making it the most connected territory.

Residents can now access the north’s fastest home Internet, with download speeds up to 500 Mbps and unlimited monthly data. Businesses can also get the new service, with speeds up to 550 Mbps. Customers in these communities also now have access to live and on-demand TV through the Northwestel TV Plus app.

“High speed and reliable Internet opens a world of opportunities for our northern communities. We’re very proud to bring that level of connectivity to Fort Resolution, Kakisa and Enterprise.” – Curtis Shaw, President, Northwestel

These fibre upgrades are part of Northwestel's Every Community Project, a 3-year project to bring high speed unlimited Internet to 10,000 homes across the Northwest Territories and Yukon. Northwestel plans to complete 14 more communities this year, including 3 in the NWT. The improvements are funded by the CRTC Broadband Fund as well as Northwestel's own significant investments.

Northwestel invites community members to visit their Facebook page to enter the Northwestel TV Giveaway. One lucky resident from each community will go home with a 55" Samsung 4K Smart TV, perfect for connecting with TV Plus.

Order the new fibre Internet and Northwestel TV Plus app online at www.nwtel.ca. Plus, there is no installation fee when switching from a DSL Internet plan.
