National Indigenous Peoples Day

Every June 21st, we proudly celebrate the cultures and contributions of our Indigenous colleagues, customers and partners across the north. Our Whitehorse team hosts the annual Northwestel Solstice Feast, serving bannock and stew, while in Yellowknife, Northwestel sponsors the Indigenous People’s Day Raffle in support of the Dettah Youth Centre.

In 2019 we helped create more than 400 hampers for families.

Join the quest along other Northwestel employees and challenge what's known as the longest canoe/kayak/stand-up paddleboard race in the world. The annual river challenge-of-challenges spans 715 km from Whitehorse to Dawson City and it's been running since 1992. The Northwestel team has placed 3rd in the Men’s C category in the past and earned the Spirit of the Yukon Award for helping a fellow paddler during the race.
