Fibre-to-the-home property construction and restoration policy

Northwestel is committed to delivering fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services using construction methods that minimize disruption and prioritize customer safety and satisfaction.

When upgrading a neighbourhood or property to FTTH, Northwestel will:

  • Conduct pre-construction surveys, which may include visible markers such as spray paint and small flags to identify easement boundaries.
  • Install underground fibre conduit to the side of each consenting home and affix a small grey box to prepare the property for future fibre-based services.
  • Ensure all construction activities on private property are completed safely and in accordance with local regulations.

Before demobilizing from a neighbourhood, Northwestel will:

  • Remove any construction-related hazards, including large debris, equipment, and open holes.
  • Ensure yards are safe and accessible for residents.

Due to seasonal limitations, restoration of greenery (e.g., grass, shrubs, and other landscaping) will be completed during the next build season. This allows for proper regrowth and ensures restoration efforts are effective and sustainable. Our goal is to restore your property to its prior condition, as much as is reasonably possible.
