Upload speeds depend on the type of network your home is connected to. In most of Whitehorse and Yellowknife, internet service is delivered through Hybrid Fibre-Coax (HFC). Homes served by this technology type get asymmetrical speeds, meaning download and upload speeds are different. In HFC areas of Whitehorse and Yellowknife, download speeds are up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds are up to 30 Mbps.

If you don’t have a Northwestel TV service, you’ll get access to our TV Plus App on us for 12 months! 

Your modem receives speeds up to 1 Gbps. The speed on each device depends on its capabilities, connection type, and placement. Newer wired devices can take better advantage of gigabit speeds. 

Upgrading to 1 Gig includes a technician visit at no extra cost. A Northwestel technician will come to your home to make sure your modem is getting the correct speed levels. 

Existing customers: No installation fees. All premise visit and premise work charges are waived.

New customers: Standard installation fees apply. A technician installation costs $186.89.

Unlimited Internet 1 Gigabit Plan

• Maximum speeds can only be obtained on a wired connection. Access speeds may vary depending on the distance between the customer’s modem and switching equipment from Northwestel: Download access speed: min. 700 Mbps and max. 1 Gbps. Speeds experienced on the Internet may vary with customer's configuration, Internet traffic, server, environmental conditions, traffic management practices or other factors. • Any portion of the Northwestel Better Bundle Program may be modified, discontinued or terminated at any time. Includes five email accounts with Webmail access and help desk support. As part of your monthly subscription to Internet services, Northwestel will provide a wireless modem.
• Northwestel may manage network resources using filtering for spam and malicious or illicit content, anti-virus mechanisms or other measures to protect the integrity of the network (such as the blocking of customer traffic or other traffic in the event of denial-of-service attacks) or Internet traffic management practices consistent with the Commission’s determinations in Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2009-657 and subsequent determinations. The Company will post a description of our current Internet traffic management practices at www.nwtel.ca/ITMP.

TV Plus App Premium with Unlimited Internet 1 Gigabit Plan

• Offer available until March 31, 2026. Available to residential Cable Internet and TV Plus customers in communities where Northwestel 1 Gigabit Internet plans and TV Plus service are available. Customer must subscribe to a Northwestel 1 Gigabit Internet plan starting at $219.95/mo and to TV Plus App Premium at $25/mo, less $25/mo credit for 12 months.

Returning internet customers

  Available to returning Northwestel residential Internet customers where access and technology permit. To qualify a customer (i) must not have an active Northwestel Internet package at their service location, (ii) must have previously subscribed to a Northwestel Internet service for at least one month, and (iii) must have disconnected the residential Internet package for a period of at least one month. The customer must have subscribed to an Internet service of an alternative service provider within Northwestel’s operating territory. The new service must be activated on an account in good standing and by the same account holder who disconnected Northwestel internet service.
  
  Offer consists of a waiver of one-time standard Internet installation fees and a promotional credit applied to eligible Internet plans.
  
  One-time standard internet installation fees may be waived as follows: Order Processing Charge ($41.30), Line Connection Charge ($45.31), Premises Visit Charge ($50.14) and Premises Work Charge ($50.14), up to a total maximum value of $186.89. Additional Service Charges may apply for work required beyond that included in a Standard Internet Installation, including, but not limited to, additional inside wiring or construction work.
