Hospitality IPTV - Pairing and Disconnecting Remote Controls
Learn about the different pairing options and how to perform each.
The Hospitality IPTV set top box-provided remote control (named Lima) can be paired via Bluetooth or Infrared (IR).
When the remote control is paired with Bluetooth:
- End-users can search for program titles with voice command
- View the battery level (percentage) of the remote control
- It is paired with one set top box and needs to be disconnected before it can be used with a different set top box
When the remote control is paired with IR:
- It can be used with any set top box without any set up
- The set top box must be visible by the remote control to work properly.
Remotes can be paired and disconnected from set top boxes at any point by any user.
Steps
- Navigate to and Select Settings on the Home Screen
- Select (Device) System
- Select Remotes and Accessories
- Select Lima
- Select Unpair Bluetooth Device, and ‘OK’
Tips/Notes:
- Once Unpair Bluetooth Device has been selected, it may take up to 15 seconds for the removal process to complete and for the user to be able to press buttons on the remote control.
- Once the remote is not paired with Bluetooth, it is only using an IR signal to communicate with the set top box. The set top box must be visible to the remote to function.
- There is no indicator showing the remote is to the set top box paired with IR (just the fact that you can perform on-screen navigation without having a device listed under Remotes and Accessories).
Steps:
- Navigate to and Select Settings on the Home Screen
- Select (Device) System
- Select Remotes and Accessories
- If there are no remotes or accessories currently paired, the set top box will automatically begin looking for nearby devices. Otherwise, select ‘Add Accessory’.
- Select Lima (the name of the remote control that is supplied with the set top box).
If Lima does not automatically show in the list of available devices, press and hold the ‘Apps’ and ‘OK’ button at the same time for 5 seconds.
The device is now paired. To have the remote control take over tv functions so only one remote control is needed (such as volume control and turning the TV on and off, in addition to on-screen controls): - Select Lima from the Remotes and Accessories list.
- Select Simple Set Up.
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
Your remote control is now paired with Bluetooth and set up to control the set top box and television functions with one remote control.
Tips/Notes:
- Once the remote has been fully set up to take over tv functions, it will continue to perform those functions if unpaired from Bluetooth.
